(VERWIRRSPIEL)

Trio for marimba, vibrafon and percussion (cajon+cymbals) by Franz Bauer

Multi-layered trio with improvisation parts.

'Confusion' is a brilliant concert piece for marimba, vibraphone and cajon (+ various cymbals), and is ideal for competitions or preludes. It is energetic and full of rhythmic refinements. At times, the rhythmic knot does not seem to work anymore. But in a furious end, the resolution succeeds!
The perfectly coordinated, notated version can be seen on 'Youtube' and can be played directly without improvisation. If you dare, you are welcome to improvise the solo sections yourself.

David Friedman:
"It's so gratifying to hear a piece for marimba and vibraphone (and cajon, of course) that is written so well, so idiomatic for these two instruments. The combined voicings are well thought out and beautifully executed by the players. Well done!"

Tony Miceli:
"I agree with David. This was a lot of fun to listen too! Sounds hip and is written so well! I hope lots of people play this! It's fun and there's a lot to learn here!"

Florian Poser:
"Franz Bauer has succeeded in creating a great, varied composition with his »Confusion«. By adding a percussion part, the rhythmic accentuations of the now classic line-up of vibraphone and marimba are worked out again and give the whole thing a powerful groovy drive. I can highly recommend the piece for self-performance as well as for ensemble lessons and I am sure that it will have the desired success."
